The Gap Cut Out |  Bathroom Before & After

A FRESH START FOR AN EMERALD GREEN BATHROOM

Embarking on a complete bathroom renovation can be a daunting task, especially when dealing with older homes that might harbor outdated materials or even asbestos. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through a meticulous bathroom transformation by a Brisbane homeowner, demonstrating the importance of thorough planning and a professional team.

Demolition and Removing Asbestos

This renovation’s initial stage addressed the potential presence of asbestos, a common issue in older properties. Upon confirmation of asbestos within the bathroom’s structure, a licensed removal firm was engaged by Align. This crucial step ensured that all hazardous materials were safely and effectively removed and ready for safe demolition. Every element, from the tiles to the old fixtures, was carefully removed. This allowed us to reorientate the shower to a more open position, and make better use of the space allocated to the vanity.

Rebuilding and Redesigning

With a clean slate, the bathroom reconstruction began. The new materials featured emerald green tiles from Unica Tiles, with a unique blend of matte and gloss finishes, providing a vibrant yet sophisticated backdrop. Brass fixtures were chosen for their classic appeal and durability, complementing the green with a touch of gold. The renovation also included a new Dowell louvre window with a satin black surround, enhancing both the aesthetics and ventilation of the space.

Nikpol graphite ABS edge cabinetry with black internal carcasses offered a sleek, modern look, while Kethy Pinta walnut handles added a natural touch. The bathroom was crowned with a stone-look benchtop, and a custom-built Florentine walnut inset shelf to replace the previous storage cupboard.

Reflecting on the Journey

The transformation culminated in a bathroom that balanced contemporary style with timeless elegance. The new space not only addressed the practical needs of the homeowner but also created a luxurious retreat, demonstrating the power of thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship.

The result is a bathroom that not only meets today’s standards of beauty and functionality but also provides a safe and comfortable space for the homeowners.
