In the heart of bustling suburban life, Michelle, a homeowner with a vision, embarked on a transformative journey to renovate her compact kitchen. With a desire for a brighter, more practical space, Michelle turned to Jo, a seasoned designer from Align Kitchens.
Michelle vividly recalls her initial kitchen woes, describing it as “too small, dark, claustrophobic, and dated.” Determined to turn things around, she took matters into her own hands, scouring the internet until she stumbled upon Align Kitchens on Google and came to us armed with a clear vision, “I presented a drawing of my desired kitchen design and a description of colors I desired.”
One of the primary goals was to maximize function without compromising on style. “The new kitchen had to have compact integrated appliances to create a seamless finish,” she explains. With Jo’s expertise, they devised a plan to optimize every inch of the limited space available.
“To create the illusion of more space, I selected compact integrated appliances, an all-white palette, and went with less upper cabinetry to open up the space,” Michelle elaborates. “Jo’s keen eye for detail proved invaluable as she suggested incorporating J-mould handles for a seamless minimal look and a hidden range hood to maintain the kitchen’s sleek aesthetic.”
Central to Michelle’s vision of an all-white kitchen was the choice of materials, particularly the benchtop. “White Smartstone luxury range with minimal light grey marbling throughout,” she emphasizes. With an emphasis on elegance and refinement, Michelle knew that the detail in the benchtop offer texture but keep it uninterrupted. Michelle opted to extend the same benchtop material into the splashback to achieve an effortless blend. “It had to appear minimal and seamless,” Michelle explains.
The results speak volumes. Michelle’s once cramped and dated kitchen has transformed the entire apartment. “The kitchen appears more spacious, functional, and it’s now a comfortable and appealing space to work and entertain in,” she beams with pride.
