Home Cabinetry Renovation

What We Did

The interior renovation specialists at Align Kitchens worked with the family of this charming old Queenslander situated in Red Hill, Brisbane to give it the kitchen makeover the family had been dreaming of for the last 13 years.

This Red Hill family came to us after having already formed a plan of what they wanted the aesthetics and functionality of their revamped space to look like. So we worked with them to ensure we could turn their home makeover ideas into reality.

To begin with, the family must-haves included a new kitchen with a large island bench, a bathroom with build-in laundry baskets and wardrobes that were made up with a functional mix of drawers, short and long hanging. The latter two requests for the bathroom and wardrobes were implemented as the designs were requested.

Next, when we arrived at the family’s home, we noticed that their house didn’t have a lot of meaningful interaction with the outside world, given that the back of the house was essentially all solid walls. Given that it was important to the family that they had more nature coming into their home, the space was opened up with a kitchen that led onto a spacious adjacent deck.

Within the kitchen itself, the family must-haves included an island bench with a design that required low maintenance, had optimal storage room and a functional layout. So to accommodate this, the island bench was designed with a flat bench top and lots of storage space beneath. And to give the kitchen a natural look that also requires low maintenance, the benchtop and other benches were designed with the Smartstone Calacatta Crema that complements the Natural Halifax Oak wood finish.

For the kitchen splashback, this Red Hill family wanted to make a statement! So we added a gum tree green colour. We also added a grooved profile to the custom-made cabinetry to match with the kitchen’s existing bead board walls. The combination of these visual profiles added a sleek, modern, and timeless feel.

Outcome

At Align Kitchens, we strongly believe that the heart of your home is the kitchen. It’s an important space in which families can create and share meals and memories together. So when we designed the Red Hill’s family new kitchen, their social hub was revamped to open up and interacted with the outside world. The layout design also separates the kitchen from the living room to allow for more activities. The new colour palette of their new kitchen brings the natural world into the home with the faded eucalyptus splashback, the Calacatta Crema and Natural Halifax Oak wood finish that trails from the benches to the rest of the house. Now this family can soak in the beautiful natural views as they enjoy spending time together in the heart of their home!

Not only is this family enjoying their home makeover together, but the family have also commented on how pleased they are now that they have the space to host and enjoy soirees and gatherings with their friends and loved ones.

All in all, this Red Hill, Brisbane home makeover preserved the charm of this old Queenslander while also revamping the space so that the family can enjoy a more spacious and aesthetically pleasing home that interacts beautifully with the natural outside world.

We would also like to give a special mention to Jaimie, at Outstanding Construction, who completed the rest of the renovation.

Client Testimonial

It has been life changing! Prior to the renovation, we really didn't have much interaction with the outside… So opening it up and being able to enjoy those views has been amazing.
